A 19-year-old college student in Malaysia was found dead with 61 stab wounds in Kelantan, just days after her family sent her back to school.

Her body was later discovered dumped along a roadside.

Body found covered in blood along roadside

The victim, identified as Nurfisya Zulkifly, was discovered lying on a road in Kampung Simah, Ketereh at about 12:22am on May 1.

According to The Star, members of the public discovered her body covered in blood.

Police believe she was killed elsewhere before her body was abandoned at the location.

Post-mortem findings later revealed that the cause of death was multiple stab wounds to her chest.

Police arrest 4 suspects

Authorities later arrested four individuals aged between 19 and 66 in connection with the case.

Kelantan police chief Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspects were detained in two separate raids.

“The suspects do not have criminal records and tested negative for drugs,” he said.

Police also seized several items believed to be linked to the case, including a knife, two vehicles, mobile phones, clothing and a pair of slippers.

Police deny viral claims about suspect’s father

Following the arrests, claims circulated online alleging that the father of one of the suspects was a senior police officer.

Kota Bharu district police chief Asst Comm Mohd Azmir Damiri dismissed the claims.

“As long as it’s not an official statement from the police, don’t believe it,” he said.

“These netizens sometimes investigate more than the police.”

Family learned of death while travelling

The victim’s family said they were informed of her death by police while travelling.

Her brother, Mohd Faris Zulkifly, said: "We received a call from the police… but we could not bear to hear further details at that moment."

The family later learned more about the case through news reports.

"My parents were in shock and could not stop crying upon learning what had actually happened," he added.

Had just returned to college days before death

Nurfisya had recently returned to Kelantan to continue her studies at Mara Poly-Tech College.

Her family had travelled from Perak just a week earlier to send her off for her third semester.

Her brother said she had not shown any unusual behaviour prior to the incident, though she had recently expressed a desire to enjoy her favourite foods.

“She wanted to savour various favourite food, including ayam penyet,” he said.

She was later laid to rest at Kampung Periang Muslim Cemetery.
