A 27-year-old Malaysian man broke into his 40-year-old ex-girlfriend's home twice within a week and stole designer sunglasses and a belt.
Guo Junxian (transliteration) was sentenced to six months and four weeks in prison for theft and trespassing, reported Shin Min Daily News.
Knew her home access code
The pair had dated for a year from February 2024 to February 2025.
During this period, Guo visited the woman's apartment on Prome Road multiple times and learned the access code to the unit.
After the two broke up, they lost contact, but Guo reached out in June 2025 for a loan of S$1,500.
However, the victim refused.
Trespassed
In hopes of getting the victim's attention, Guo decided to break into her apartment on Nov. 15, 2025, by using the access code.
He entered the apartment's room and balcony in an attempt to harass her.
Later that same day, the victim discovered that the balcony window handle was broken.
Fearing for her safety, the landlord installed CCTV on the balcony and changed the access code.
Guo later returned to the unit on Nov. 19 and found that the password had been changed.
He then climbed over the wall and railing, walked along the narrow edge to the balcony, and pushed the CCTV camera away to avoid being filmed.
After entering the victim's room through the balcony, Guo stole a pair of Dior sunglasses worth approximately S$600 and a Balenciaga belt worth approximately S$600.
He intended to sell the sunglasses and use the belt for himself.
Arrested
The victim later discovered that the window handle was broken again.
After reviewing the CCTV footage with the landlord, they identified Guo and called the police the next day.
Police later searched Guo's residence, recovered the stolen items from the victim, and arrested him on Nov. 24.
During his court hearing, Guo reportedly apologised to the victim and promised never to repeat the offence.
In sentencing, the judge noted that the victim had yet to receive any compensation and that Guo committed the crime again while on bail, demonstrating egregious behaviour.
