An elderly Singaporean man in his early 70s was found dead in his hotel room in Batam, Indonesia on May 21, 2026.

He was identified as Lim Ah Ling, detiksumut reported.

Police received a call about the incident around 12:30pm local time that day.

Found dead

The Great Wall Hotel had reportedly tried to contact the man regarding his stay, Tribun Batam reported.

However, he reportedly did not respond when contacted by phone or when hotel staff knocked on his door.

Police officers were then deployed to the hotel, according to detiksumut.

Hotel staff opened his room door using a spare key and the man was found alone in the room and lying on his back.

Medication found in room

In addition, different types of medication and supplements were found in Lim's room, some of which were reportedly accompanied by a doctor's prescription.

Others appeared to have consumption instructions from a pharmacy, according to Tribun Batam.

Lim's body was later sent to the hospital, where based on the initial examination results, no signs of violence were found on his body.

As of May 21, police were awaiting results of the medical examination to determine the cause of death.

The police chief also told detiksumut that they would check surveillance footage at the scene to find out if anyone else had visited the man before he was found dead.
