A total of 11 people were taken to hospital after nine motorcycles and a car got into a chain collision along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) during the morning peak hour on May 19.
In response to media queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said they were alerted to a road traffic accident along AYE towards Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) at about 6:35am.
Two persons were conveyed conscious to National University Hospital, while nine were conveyed conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
According to the Singapore Police Force, nine of the 11 people involved in the accident were male motorcyclists aged 26 to 61.
A 32-year-old woman who was riding pillion and a 21-year-old man were also involved.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Videos of the accident made their rounds on social media.
On the Facebook page SGRV, dashboard camera footage showed several motorcycles colliding and skidding, with sparks visible on the road.
The accident took place on the two right-most lanes of the expressway.
After the first group of riders collided, a motorcyclist could be seen colliding into another rider, who was slowing down to avoid the pile-up.
