No evidence so far that Singtel service disruption was due to cyberattacks: Josephine Teo
Under investigation.
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is investigating the incidents of disruptions to Singtel services between Mar. 16 and 18, 2026, MDDI Minister Josephine Teo said in Parliament on Apr. 7.
So far, no evidence has been found that the disruptions were due to cyberattacks.
IMDA is also investigating whether the disruptions affected calls to emergency services, although there have been no reports so far, Teo shared.
"I would like to assure Members that MDDI and IMDA take all service disruptions seriously and we recognise the concerns raised. Service providers are held to high service standards through the Telecoms Act and the Telecom Service Resiliency Code," she added.
Disruption
Singtel customers experienced connectivity issues and service disruptions for three consecutive days, beginning on Mar. 16.
Around 600,000 Singtel mobile customers were affected.
On Mar. 19, Singtel CEO Ng Tian Chong issued a public apology. He attributed the disruptions to a mechanical fault, a software bug and a spike in network traffic.
He added that the issues were unrelated.
Singtel also offered customers up to S$10 in a goodwill rebate following the incidents.
