Australian woman, 52 & New Zealand man, 63, to be charged for stealing perfume & cream worth S$437 at Chang Airport T2

Both persons were arrested at their hotel room.

The Singapore police will be charging a 63-year-old New Zealand man and a 52-year-old Australian woman for their suspected involvement in two cases of shop theft at Changi Airport Terminal 2.

On Mar. 25, 2026 at about 1:50pm, the police were alerted to a shop theft at a retail outlet in the transit area of Changi Airport Terminal 2.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a retail assistant had noticed that two cosmetic items were missing from the display shelf at around 12:35pm.

The identities of the two persons were established with the aid of images from surveillance cameras and through ground enquiries.

Took perfume and cream

The footage showed that at about 12:20pm, the man allegedly took a perfume valued at S$239.60 and left the store with the woman without making payment.

About two minutes later, both persons returned to the store where the man allegedly took a cream valued at S$198 before they left the store again without making payment.

Officers from the Airport Police Division arrested both persons at their hotel room and recovered the stolen items.

The police also seized two additional bottles of perfume which were allegedly fraudulently obtained.

Both persons are slated to be charged on Apr. 7 2026 with two counts of theft in dwelling with common intention.

The offence carries a jail term of up to seven years, a fine, or both.

They will also be charged with one count of fraudulent possession of property
