S'porean man, 28, caught with vape & duty-unpaid cigarettes in M'sia taxi at Woodlands Checkpoint
40 vapes and related components, and 26 packs of duty-unpaid cigarettes were found.
A 28-year-old Singaporean man was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint on Apr. 3 for attempting to smuggle vaporisers and duty-unpaid cigarettes into Singapore.
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) posted about the incident on Facebook on Apr. 9.
The Singaporean man was entering Singapore via a Malaysia-registered taxi.
A 70-year-old Malaysian man was driving the taxi, with another 73-year-old passenger on board.
Profiled vehicle for enhanced checks
ICA Search & Examination officers profiled the vehicle for enhanced checks and subsequently found over 40 vaporisers and related components, and 26 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes in the haversack of the 28-year-old male Singaporean passenger.
The man was arrested in connection with the case.
The exhibits were referred to Singapore Customs and Health Sciences Authority for further investigations.
