An 80-year-old Singaporean man was found dead in a river in Indonesia, encased in cement.

Two Indonesian suspects, identified as H and K, have been arrested for the alleged murder of the man, according to CNN Indonesia.

The two suspects were arrested by police at Cilacap Regency, in Indonesia.

According to the Cilacap Police Chief, Budi Adhy Buono, the deceased man's body was discovered encased in cement in Citanduy River on Feb. 20, 2026.

The deceased, identified as S, was a Singaporean man who was known to live in Tanah Abang, Jakarta.

His family had reported him as missing to the police before his body was eventually found in Cilacap.

"We have interrogated five eyewitnesses. From the interrogations and retrieved evidence, we managed to identify the two suspects," Budi said.

Modus operandi

The two suspects were arrested on Mar. 25, at about 9pm. Police said they are odd job labourers, working in industries such as farming and construction.

Following investigations, police found that H allegedly acted as the executor, hitting the victim with a bamboo pole. H allegedly hit the victim's neck at least twice.

He also tried to get rid of evidence by wrapping the victim's body in a bedsheet and a plastic sheet before encasing the body in cement.

K, on the other hand, allegedly stuffed the victim's mouth to stifle his screams. He also helped to wrap the body in the sheets.

The incident took place on Feb. 16 in the city of Sukabumi, which is about 100km away from Jakarta and about 390km away from Cilacap.

After murdering the man, the two suspects allegedly drove the body around for about 30 minutes before returning back to the same location in Sukabumi.

Case referred to regional police

They then had a discussion and decided to dispose of the body in Cilacap.

The case will be referred to the police division in Sukabumi as the incident took place there, said Budi.
