The Singapore police have arrested a 26-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of unauthorised access to a media-content server.

In a Apr. 24 Singapore Police Force (SPF) news release, the police said they received a report on Apr. 16 indicating that extracts from a "yet-to-be-released" animated film were circulating on social media platforms.

Mothership understands that the film in question is "The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender".

The movie is slated for release on Paramount+ later in October 2026.

However, the movie was leaked online in April 2026 and circulated on social media platforms such as X and chat boards like 4chan.

"Through follow-up investigations, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department swiftly established the identity of the man and arrested him within a day of the report," SPF said.

Various electronic devices belonging to the man were seized, and a copy of the film was recovered from his devices, the police added.

According to SPF, preliminary investigations revealed that the man had gained remote access to the media-content server and downloaded the film.

The man subsequently posted parts of the film online.

SPF said the man is currently being investigated for the offence of Unauthorised Access to Computer Material.

The offence carries a maximum jail term of seven years, a fine not exceeding S$50,000, or both.

"The police take a serious view against any unauthorised access to computer systems. Anyone found to be involved in such activities will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law," SPF said.
