The woman who caused a scene on an AirAsia flight en route from Chongqing, China to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Apr. 22, has allegedly taken to social media to respond to the public backlash.

What happened

The incident, which occurred on AirAsia flight D7809, involved the woman — who reportedly claimed to be a China Southern Airlines crew member — raising her voice at the cabin and ground crew after a fellow passenger filmed her speaking loudly on the phone before take-off.

She reportedly grew agitated when a flight attendant addressed her in English rather than Mandarin, and was heard saying that cabin crew on international flights should be able to speak the language.

She was eventually removed from the aircraft, which departed about an hour and a half behind schedule.

Videos of the confrontation circulated widely online, drawing significant criticism.

According to a fellow passenger's account, the woman's frustration stemmed from three fellow travellers she was with being unable to board the flight after being held up at the airport for around half an hour.

She was reportedly heard demanding that the flight not proceed, as her friends had already purchased tickets.

Livestreams after the incident

In a series of videos purportedly from the woman following the incident, the person on screen appeared to put on a beauty filter.

Mothership could not independently verify whether the person in the videos was the same woman involved in the incident.

The videos have since circulated widely online on X.

In the videos, the person acknowledged some fault but maintained that she was not solely responsible for the incident.

"Even if they are negative reports, I accept them all. But I can't possibly apologise," she said. "I only feel that I indeed spoke too loudly on the phone. But after I hung up, I apologised to [the affected passenger]."

In a separate video, she addressed the online harassment she claimed she and her family had faced since the incident went viral.

She urged those who had posted about her family to delete their content.

"You can cyberbully me all you like, but the internet is not a 'no man's land'," she said, warning that she would pursue legal action against those who had doxxed her family members.

"Some people have come across my family members online and cyberbullied them. I'm sorry, but I will use the law to protect myself."

In a most recent video, the person in it claimed to have appeared without the image filters used in previous videos, after some viewers said they had difficulty recognising her with them on.

She also said she had considered releasing a 40-minute recording of her conversation with the police but decided against it, as advised.

She added that she felt she had already addressed most of the public's questions and did not intend to respond to further queries on the platform.

She also reminded netizens once again not to bring her family into this.
