As a result, traffic towards the Woodlands Checkpoint was affected.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) issued a statement on social media informing travellers that "two out of two lanes" were blocked and delays were expected.

The incident was attended to at 7:35am.

Lianhe Zaobao reported that damage to both vehicles were minor, but they could not move off immediately as the signage was on them.

No one was injured.

At 7:45am, ICA updated on social media that the damaged signage was cleared.

Strong wind likely cause

Zaobao also reported that online chatter suggested that strong winds and heavy rainfall were observed along the Causeway between 5am and 6am.

The road sign could have fallen off due to the windy conditions.

Some online accounts stated that they were stuck for 45 minutes along the Causeway as a result of the traffic standstill.
