Food and beverage brand Yeo Hiap Seng, also known as Yeo's, announced that it is laying off 25 employees at its Senoko facility in Singapore.
The layoffs are due to a consolidation of can manufacturing to Malaysia, Yeo's said in a media statement on Mar. 31.
"This consolidation enables the Group’s Johor and Selangor facilities to optimise capacity utilisation and strengthen overall manufacturing efficiency across its network," the statement said.
The Senoko facility will continue to be in use as the company's headquarters, cross-border logistics hub, and a smaller-scale manufacturing centre.
The company said it will help affected staff with job placement assistance, career guidance and counselling support. Opportunities for open roles will also be offered wherever possible.
Affected staff will receive retrenchment benefits that are aligned with the Ministry of Manpower guidelines, the statement added.
"Yeo’s worked closely with the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union to ensure the package and transition support reflect appreciation for the contributions of affected staff."
