Trade in your old suitcase for 30% off a new Samsonite luggage

Wherever you’re heading to this year, maybe your luggage could use a refresh.

A few months ago, I took my first big trip in a few years.

I finally had a reason to pull out my big suitcase from storage and fill it with more changes of clothes than I realistically needed.

Predictably however, after five years of disuse, the wheels came apart after landing and I had to awkwardly haul my luggage through foreign streets on two wheels.

Suffice to say: I’m ready to look for new luggage.

Samsonite to the rescue

From Mar. 13 to May 3, 2026, Samsonite’s annual Luggage Trade-in Campaign returns.

Customers can trade in luggage of any brand, size, or condition at all Samsonite retail stores, department stores and online for 30 per cent savings on Samsonite’s Minter and Upscape collections.

And when I heard about it, I double checked one thing: that it doesn’t say up to 30 per cent, it's a straight, pull no punches, 30 per cent off.

Just to note: customers can purchase items online and receive the discount, but they are encouraged to bring down their luggage to any retail store.

There are also two separate deals to take advantage of (but not at the same time, sorry)!

DBS and POSB cardholders can enjoy an additional 5 per cent off both Minter and Upscape collections in all Samsonite retail stores and online.

CapitaStar members can also enjoy an additional 5 per cent off in all Samsonite retail stores.

Both discounts are applicable with the Friends of Samsonite Black cardmembers 10 per cent privilege, but not applicable with each other.

Earth Hour

Samsonite is also partnering with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) - Singapore, and will donate S$10 to the WWF-Singapore Earth hour campaign for every trade-in transaction.

Earth Hour is an annual awareness event where businesses and households symbolically turn off all non-essential lights for one hour, in solidarity with a climate-resilient Earth.

In commemoration of the 2026 Earth Hour, Samsonite stores in Singapore will turn off all non-essential lights on Saturday, Mar. 28, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.

But what luggage is available?

Minter – Smooth travel, refined

The Minter collection combines a sleek contemporary silhouette with functional features that prioritises comfort and ease of movement (yay wheels that work!)

It has a durable polycarbonate shell, with its smooth rolling wheels (with suspension), as well as thoughtfully designed interiors made from recycled materials.

It comes in four sizes, as well as a variety of colours, although it should be noted that Glossy Sage Green is a retail store exclusive colour.

There’s also the Spinner 80/30 Trunk size in Cherry Blossoms and Glossy Lavender, which is exclusively available online.

Here’s a look at the interior of the Spinner 55/20 cabin size.

The interior is finished with high-quality jacquard lining, made from 100 per cent post-consumer recycled PET bottles.

All the bags include a packing cube for added organisation, as displayed with the Glossy Sage Green bag.

As you can imagine, I paid close attention to the wheels - and all sizes come with Aero-Trac II suspension wheel system for smooth, controlled movement.

The check-in sizes come with an expandable zip, perfect for squeezing in that last-minute purchase before your flight home.

The Upscape - Light without compromise

The Upscape is built for those looking for a lightweight, durable, and versatile piece of luggage, with surprising functionality.

Sporting resilient polypropylene shells, expandable capacity and smooth double wheels, each piece is designed for effortless movement.

A well-organised interior made with recycled materials completes the design, offering practical functionality in a clean, modern silhouette.

They come in four sizes, and four colours:

The interior has a straightforward, fully featured interior with removable, hand-washable linings.

One feature I didn’t expect in the cabin-sized bag was the integrated USB-A and USB-C ports, which act as a pass-through for a battery pack attached to your luggage.

Just plug your phone or device into the luggage’s ports and charge on the go, no need to cram a bulky power bank into your pocket.

All four sizes of the Upscape luggage come with expandability options, including the cabin sized Spinner 55/20.

Pictured is the Spinner 81/30, fully expanded to its maximum capacity, allowing for a monster-sized trip.

And here’s a picture of the wheels, because that trip really traumatised me, so I’m placing an outsized emphasis on wheel construction and reliability.

Let’s go on holiday (or work, if we have to)

So if you’re planning to take a trip this year, maybe your luggage could use a refresh.

If it’s too small, a little worse for wear, if you’ve been eyeing a fancy new colour, or if your wheels have fallen apart and you’re tired of dragging your luggage everywhere — consider heading down to Samsonite.

Samsonite will accept luggage of any brand, size, and condition for a 30 per cent discount, and get you ready to go.
