Woman, 30, & 2 children sent to hospital after car & PMD collide in Hougang

The driver, a woman, 54, was arrested for reckless driving.

A 30-year-old woman and two children, aged six and seven, were sent to the hospital after the personal mobility device (PMD) they were riding collided with a car in Hougang on Mar. 11, 2026.

The accident also saw a 54-year-old woman, the driver of the car, getting arrested for reckless driving, Shin Min Daily News reported.

According to a photo by a Shin Min reader, a red car was parked at the side of the road.

The PMD was seen close by.

When Shin Min arrived at the scene, the female car driver, who appeared to have no obvious injuries, was seen being questioned.

Witness

Speaking to Shin Min, a 35-year-old witness said he was at the ground floor of a nearby block when he heard a loud noise.

He then turned around and witnessed the aftermath of the accident.

The witness and other members of the public provided first aid to the injured.

Another witness, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed the female car driver was initially in shock and reportedly only got out of her car to check on the situation after she had calmed down.

A tow truck arrived at the scene around 9pm on Mar. 11, Shin Min reported.

Responding to Mothership's queries, the police confirmed they were alerted at about 5:30pm on Mar. 11, 2026 to an accident involving a car and a PMD at the junction of Hougang Avenue 8 and Hougang Street 61.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) conveyed a 30-year-old female PMD rider, a six-year-old male and a seven-year-old female PMD passengers conscious to hospital.

SCDF conveyed two persons to KK Women's and Children's Hospital and one person to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The police said a 54-year-old female car driver was arrested for reckless driving causing grievous hurt and police investigations are ongoing.
