S'porean man, 64, charged with molesting granddaughters, 8 & 9, in Yishun HDB
As the grandfather is over 50 years old, he cannot be caned.
A 64-year-old man allegedly molested two of his granddaughters, then aged eight and nine, multiple times in 2025.
On Mar. 6, the man was charged with two counts of molestation.
He cannot be named due to a gag order to protect the identities of his granddaughters.
According to charge sheets seen by Mothership, his granddaughters were living with him in a Yishun Housing Development Board (HDB) flat at the time.
He is expected to plead guilty on Apr. 17, 2026.
The incidents
The man committed the acts in his Yishun flat in 2025.
He allegedly touched his eight-year-old granddaughter's private parts under her clothing on three different occasions.
He also touched his nine-year-old granddaughter's chest over her clothes, and privates under her clothes, on three occasions.
Cannot be caned
The man is currently out on bail of S$15,000.
For each count of molesting a child below 14 years old, an offender could be jailed for up to five years, fined, caned, or be handed any combination of these punishments.
As he is over 50 years old, the man cannot be caned.
