Calling all Disney fans: Get ready to step into a whole new world aboard the Disney adventure.

Not only is the ship Asia’s first Disney cruise, but it is also the newest and largest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.

For at least the next five years, the ship will sail three and four-night voyages departing from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre.

Prices start from around S$1,607 for a 3-night cruise from Singapore in June.

At first glance, that might seem like a hefty price to pay for a few nights on a ship. But after experiencing it firsthand, I can understand why many would consider it money well spent.

Here's a first-hand look at what the cruise experience is like, and why it may be worth the splurge.

Staterooms

For our room, we were assigned the Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah, a 253 square feet stateroom that can accommodate up to four guests.

Our cabin was located on one of the higher decks, which meant we woke up each morning to sweeping views of the ocean horizon.

The room features a queen-sized bed and a double sofa bed, with an additional ceiling pull-down bed available.

For those of you who always dread fighting for the toilet in the morning, you'll be glad to know that the toilet and shower are located separately, making it easier for multiple guests to get ready at the same time without getting in each other’s way.

Toiletries are provided as well, including body wash, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and bar soap.

For families with kids — and Disney-loving adults — the in-room television comes loaded with Disney movies and shows, perfect for winding down after a long day of activities.

The room also includes complimentary instant TWG tea and Bacha Coffee, along with USB ports and charging cables for convenience.

But perhaps the most delightful perk? 24-hour room service is complimentary for most food items, meaning you can order snacks and meals to your room anytime without additional charge.

Our recommendation? The cheese platter.

Seven themed areas

There are a total of seven themed areas onboard Disney Adventure, each inspired by different Disney stories and characters:

  • Disney Imagination Garden: The central gathering area of the ship with a garden theme and live performance stage.
  • Disney Discovery Reef: An underwater-inspired promenade filled with shops and casual dining spots.
  • Toy Story Place: A bright and colourful pool deck inspired by the world of Toy Story.
  • Marvel Landing: A high-energy zone featuring Marvel-themed rides and attractions.
  • Wayfinder Bay: A relaxed outdoor lounge inspired by Moana.
  • San Fransokyo Street: A lively street inspired by Big Hero 6, lined with snacks and arcade games.
  • Town Square: An elegant castle-inspired area designed around Disney princess themes.

Unlike other Disney Cruise Line ships, the centre of the Disney Adventure has been hollowed out vertically, creating a dramatic open space where the Imagination Garden stretches below the upper decks.

At night, the lighting transforms the area into a beautiful and relaxing place perfect for photos and evening strolls.

The Imagination Garden is also anchored by a massive stage known as the Garden Stage.

Six live shows will be held at this venue, including including Avengers Assemble and Duffy And The Friend Ship, which were both created specifically for the Disney Adventure.

    Disney Discovery Reef

Inspired by beloved underwater tales from Disney and Pixar like The Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo, Disney Discovery Reef is an open-air promenade lined with blue walls, coral formations and aquatic plants.

It’s an easy, pleasant space to wander through while browsing shops or grabbing a casual bite.

One of the key food kiosks here is Bewitching Boba and Brews, a delicious bubble tea shop that sells drinks from the Chinese milk tea brand Naisnow, which are available at an additional cost.

    Toy Story Place

Toy Story Place is a colourful, family-friendly pool deck packed with playful design details.

Its best visited earlier in the morning before crowds build up.

    Its highlights include:

    • Woody and Jessie’s Wild Slides:
Toy Story–themed water slides that are fun and visually impressive, though lines tend to get long in the afternoon.
    • Toy Story Splash Pad: A fun, shallow splash area designed for younger children.

    Marvel Landing

    Avengers, assemble.

Marvel Landing is an open-air attraction zone themed around characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It houses three rides: Pym Quantum Racers, Groot Galaxy Spin and Ironcycle Test Run.

Pym Quantum Racers is a bumper car ride that’s quick and entertaining, though more of a fun diversion than a major thrill ride.

On the other hand, riders on Groot Galaxy Spin sit in miniature spaceships that spin around a central pillar and can be controlled to move up and down.

It’s a playful and lighthearted ride that's perfect for families.

Now, Ironcycle Test Run is the one that takes the cake for us.

It is the longest rollercoaster at sea, with a 250m track that twists and curves across nearly half the length of the ship.

With the open sky overhead and ocean all around, it delivers one of the most thrilling experiences onboard.

While the ride itself is relatively short, it’s exhilarating and well worth trying at least once. Just be prepared for queues during peak hours.

Riders must also be between 120cm and 195cm tall to ride.

    San Fransokyo Street

This was also one of the zones which greatly impressed us.

Designed to resemble an underground city street, the space even features train announcement sounds playing in the background, adding to the immersive atmosphere.

It also houses Baymax Cinemas, where Disney movies are screened throughout the day and into the night, including the latest Zootopia 2.

Kids’ clubs Vibe and Edge also offer spacious hangout areas for young kids onboard, and are located behind store entrances in the zone.

    Wayfinder Bay

For a slower pace, Wayfinder Bay offers a relaxed open-air lounge area with views of the ocean.

A pool sits in front of tiered deck seating surrounding a stage, where guests can enjoy a one-of-a-kind musical retelling of the Disney film Moana.

During the day, it’s a pleasant spot to lounge between activities, before it transforms into a venue for live music and entertainment in the evening.

    Town Square

Finally, Town Square is one of the most elegant spaces on the ship, inspired by Disney princesses.

It’s also a popular location for character meet-and-greets and photo opportunities.

Nearby is the three-deck Walt Disney Theatre, where guests can catch Broadway-style productions.

The Navigator’s Club and Enchanted Summer restaurants are also located on the same deck.

For the little ones, they can fulfil their childhood dreams and become princesses, knights or even sea captains at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and enjoy a royal tea party at the Royal Society for Friendship and Tea.

Meanwhile, aspiring superheroes can head to the Marvel Style Studio to suit up and channel their favourite characters.

    Disney Adventure Cruise prices
