25th floor Telok Blangah flat window falls off, smashes Mercedes & injures 2 men in their 70s
New fear unlocked.
A glass window fell from the 25th floor of a public housing flat in Telok Blangah and damaged a Mercedes-Benz and injured two men in their 70s.
The incident occurred on Mar. 2 at Block 25 Telok Blangah Crescent, according to Shin Min Daily News.
A person who provided the tip-off said the window fell at about 5pm and shattered upon impact.
One man was cut in the ear by the shards, while another sustained a foot injury, but neither required hospitalisation.
They were tended to by paramedics who arrived at the scene, reported Shin Min.
The Mercedes-Benz that was damaged was unoccupied at the time.
It was parked directly below the window.
It sustained damages that included dents.
Glass shards were found scattered all over the car, which was cordoned off by police officers.
The car's owner told the media that they have since spoken to the owner of the unit involved, who apparently agreed to providing compensation.
Window came loose
The window was believed to have come loose from its hinges, reported Shin Min.
One resident said she heard a loud bang when it fell and became worried that someone along the walkway below the block may have been injured.
Another resident said that when he went downstairs to check on the cause of the commotion, he saw the two victims being treated.
The home owner of the unit was reportedly not present at the time of the incident.
If a window falls from a person's home due to lack of maintenance, the offender could be fined up to S$20,000, jailed up to a year, or both.
