Members of the public will be able to ride autonomous shuttles in Punggol from Apr. 1, 2026.

This was announced by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow at the Ministry of Transport’s Committee of Supply in parliament on Mar. 4, 2026.

Grab's autonomous shuttles trial

The autonomous shuttles operated by Grab in Punggol have undergone extensive testing, accumulating over 25,000km of safe and reliable autonomous driving, the Land Transport Authority said in a press release.

Around 740 people have taken these autonomous shuttles since by-invite community rides commenced on Jan. 12, 2026.

Some 99 per cent of respondents shared positive feedback that they would recommend the service to others.

Three routes were previously announced by LTA.

The first route, operated by Grab, runs a 10km round trip from east to west Punggol.

The second route, operated by ComfortDelGro, will operate in north-east Punggol and is 12km long.

The third route, also operated by Grab, will connect residents from Matilda Court, Punggol Clover, and Punggol Northshore to One Punggol, and Punggol Coast mall.

Siow said: "If all goes well, I intend to trial AVs in other parts of Singapore. We are considering Sentosa, Tuas, Mandai and others, as possibilities. This will depend on whether there is interest from AV companies and commuters in these areas."

Free rides

Members of the public will be able to register online for a ride on Routes 1 and 3 from Mar. 25, 2026.

The rides will be free for an initial period before revenue services commence.

LTA said this will allow more people to experience the AV technology and provide feedback so that the operator can make improvements that will benefit commuters.

S$4 flat fare from mid-2026

Revenue service for these two routes is expected begin from mid-2026 at a flat fare of S$4 per passenger.

This will enhance connectivity to key amenities and transport nodes for residents within Punggol, LTA said.

In addition, this will cut travel times on public transport by up to 15 minutes.

Route 2 by-invite rides will be beginning soon

Meanwhile, the autonomous shuttles on Route 2 operated by ComfortDelgro are undergoing familiarisation.

They are expected to commence by-invite rides soon.

LTA said it will continue to closely monitor the autonomous shuttles’ performance to ensure they meet safety and operational standards.
