S'porean teen, 13, hit by MPV on the way to math exam, family appealing for witnesses
No one helped the teen so she went to her school's general office to seek assistance for her injuries.
A 13-year-old Singaporean girl was walking to school to take her math exam when she was hit by a black Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV).
She had been crossing the street at the traffic junction between Pasir Ris Drive 6 and Pasir Ris Street 41, while the green man sign was on.
In response to Mothership's queries, the police confirmed that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
The accident occurred at around 7am on Feb. 12. The teen, Qisya, was hit by the car and fell from the impact, but was reportedly left "bleeding" on the road.
Her mother, Diyana, said the driver immediately sped off after and did not stop to help.
The girl sustained a sprain to her right foot and abrasions to her right inner elbow and both of her knees, the 35-year-old said.
Her family is now seeking eyewitnesses with dashcam footage.
No one helped her
Speaking to Mothership, Diyana said that the girl had left home early to revise for her weighted assessment with her friends.
As Qisya was crossing the street, a black vehicle, apparently an MPV, cut in front of her.
The side of the car hit her, causing her to fall and injure her knees, arms, and feet.
As the driver did not stop to help, the injured girl went to her school's general office alone to seek medical attention.
"Thankfully, there weren't any other vehicles passing by," she said according to the police report.
Her teachers called her parents to inform them of the accident, and the principal suggested they call an ambulance, but the family declined.
Instead, Qisya's father left work to drive her to Parkway East Hospital for an assessment.
She was granted two days of medical leave, and barred from participating in sports activities for two weeks.
Had a major operation in May 2025
Qisya had also undergone a major operation on her feet less than a year ago, said Diyana.
In May 2025, she had a midfoot osteotomy, a complex procedure that involves cutting and realigning the bones in one's feet for improved function.
As her daughter is a dancer who was admitted to her current secondary school through Direct School Admission, the new injuries are cause for concern, Diyana said.
Her parents and school have since made a police report, and investigations are ongoing.
Diyana added that she wishes to "remind drivers to drive with care on the roads, especially if it is within a silver or school zone".
Eyewitnesses can reach out to Diyana on Facebook.
