The video
The incident first came to light after a video posted on TikTok showed a large group of students in a hall tossing yusheng, which is a raw fish salad traditionally eaten during Chinese New Year.
In the video, students can be seen throwing plastic cups and throwing the salad at each other.
Some students can also be heard shouting "huat ah", a Hokkien phrase meaning "to prosper".

Yusheng, also known as Lo Hei, is a traditional salad dish eaten during Chinese New Year.
Family and friends usually gather around the dish and use chopsticks to toss the salad as high as they can, while shouting auspicious phrases.
The salad often contains salmon or abalone as symbols of wealth and abundance.
Students involved will be counselled: NTU
In response to Mothership's queries, an NTU spokesperson said they are aware of the video that was posted online.
The spokesperson said the university, which has a diverse community, expects festive celebrations to be carried out appropriately and with consideration for others, adding that it takes concerns over food wastage seriously.
"The students involved will be counselled on the need to avoid food wastage at future events," the spokesperson affirmed, adding that organisers will be reminded to remain vigilant and step in promptly when managing small groups displaying rowdy behaviour.
