Former Thailand esports athletes Naphat Warasin, also known as Tokyogurl, 29, and Chaiyo, also known as Cheerio, 23, were arrested and charged on Feb. 13 for allegedly cheating at the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

According to Bangkok Post, Chaiyo had helped Naphat remotely play her match on Dec. 16, 2025.

Authorities uncovered their ruse after multiple login attempts were detected, and chat records revealed that the pair were contacting each other during the competition.

Used unauthorised software, shared username and password

Crime Suppression Division (CSD) commander Phatthanasak Bupphasuwan said that Naphat and Chaiyo had allegedly schemed to obtain and disclose restricted computer access credentials and illegally access computer data protected by security systems.

Naphat had then allegedly used unauthorised software and gotten Chaiyo to play on her behalf remotely.

Authorities detected login attempts before the Thailand–Vietnam match, while chat records revealed the two were in contact throughout the competition.

Naphat was subsequently expelled and disqualified from the Thailand women's team.

Investigators found that she had shared her username and password with Chaiyo, an experienced semi-professional player.

Naphat had denied she had cheated, saying she would have won if she had done so.

Digital evidence found on phones

Police conducted a search in the pair's room, located at a house in Nonthaburi, and found evidence on their mobile phones.

Chaiyo later confessed to being Naphat's proxy player and playing the game using software installed on her phone.

President of the Thailand Esports Federation (TESF) Santi Lohtong said that the incident had severely tarnished the federation, the national esports team and Thailand's standing in the global esports arena.

He added that both players have been handed lifetime bans.

The Pathumwan Kwaeng Court is set to deliver its sentence on Mar. 17.
