The police raided 10 massage outlets at People’s Park Complex, People’s Park Centre, and Syed Alwi Road on Feb. 12, and found that nine were operating without valid licences.

Five of these nine were also involved in vice-related activities, the police said in a Feb. 13 news release.

Following the raid, the police are investigating seven women, aged 32 to 43, for allegedly working without a valid work pass, and keeping or managing a place of assignation.

The police said it will continue to conduct regular enforcement checks on massage establishment outlets, and will take strict enforcement action to stamp out illegal activities.

Suspected of prostitution

Some of the outlets raided allegedly provided sexual services under the guise of massage services, said Edwin Yong, the head of operations at the Central Police Division, as quoted by The Straits Times.

Among the seven people being investigated was a woman suspected of providing sexual services at an unlicensed massage outlet in People’s Park Centre.

Used wet wipes and contraceptives were found under one of the beds in the outlet.

Another woman was also arrested in a People's Park Complex outlet for alleged prostitution, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The community and Members of Parliament (MPs) have raised concerns about suspected illegal activities at massage businesses.

Previously in January 2026, Tanjong Pagar Member of Parliament (MP) Foo Cexiang said that about 10 massage and spa establishments at Tanjong Pagar Plaza closed following police raids and inspections.

They also led to 13 people getting arrested.

The police said they will continue to conduct regular enforcement checks on massage establishment outlets, and will take strict enforcement action to stamp out illegal activities.
