Lin, a Taiwanese man, 75, was sentenced to jail after he pushed Qiu, his wife, 68, out the window of their 14th-floor house.

Lin had wheeled his wife beside the window, helped her stand up on the edge of the window, and then pushed her off.

Qiu died on the spot.

Lin then went and turned himself in to the nearby police station.

According to local media, Lin had been taking care of Qiu after she had contracted a rare sickness.

The two had been married for over 30 years.

While the two have children, they have all moved out and have their own families.

Qiu's physical and mental condition deteriorated in recent years, eventually leaving her bedridden.

The man had felt overwhelmed as his wife's condition worsened, and had wanted to seek a paid caretaker to help him out, but Qiu insisted that she only wanted her husband to take care of her.

Due to the circumstances of the incident, the court ordered a sentence of two years and six months.

The judges noted that the man's actions were different from other murder cases, and that this was a tragedy borne from long-term care.
