Brad Arnold, the lead singer of American rock band 3 Doors Down, has died after a battle with cancer.

The 47-year-old passed away in his sleep on Feb. 7, surrounded by family and loved ones, according to a statement by the band on their social media.

Arnold was diagnosed with stage four cancer in May 2025. At the time, the cancer had already spread to his lungs, reported The Guardian.

Talented musician and devoted husband

Arnold was the sole remaining founding member of the band, and a songwriter as well as the original drummer.

Bassist Todd Harrell was replaced after being convicted of a 2013 vehicular homicide incident. Guitarist Matt Roberts left the band in 2012 and later died in 2016 of an overdose.

3 Doors Down is best known for their songs "Here Without You", "When I'm Gone" and "Kryptonite", the latter of which was their breakout hit.

Arnold had written the song at just 15 years old while in his math class.

He was also described as a devoted husband and is survived by his wife, Jennifer.

The band wrote:

"His music reverberated far beyond the stage, creating moments of connection, joy, faith, and shared experiences that will live on long after the stages he performed on."
