Taiwan actor says he will not leave any money to son, says he will spend it with wife instead
He shared this in a recent online video.
Taiwanese actor Ming Dao, who is married with a son and a daughter, recently sparked an online debate after revealing that he does not plan to leave any monetary assets for his son.
Ming Dao posted his thoughts in a Xiaohongshu video, which were gleaned from a discussion he had with his neighbour, 8world reported.
Assets planning
Ming Dao said he was having a casual chat with his neighbour when the topic shifted to personal asset planning.
He confessed that he had never thought of amassing a big fortune and found it sufficient to have enough to get by.
His neighbour then asked: "Haven't you thought of leaving money for your next generation?"
Ming Dao responded that he does not have such thoughts at all.
He said, "Why should I leave money for him? My money is for my wife and me."
Happiness
Addressing his neighbour's question of securing his child's future, Ming Dao gave an example that if he left S$500 million to his son who hypothetically developed a gambling habit, all the money could be lost in one night.
There would be nothing left to secure in such a situation, he said.
He added that in his opinion, his son would not reach a state of poverty even if he did not leave him a single cent.
In addition, he told his neighbour that the happiest point in his life was when he was at the stage of not having money, but about to make money.
He then said he would not deprive his son of such a stage.
