A young couple was allegedly spotted engaging in indecent acts at the void deck of Block 609 Choa Chu Kang Street 62.

A resident told Shin Min Daily News that she saw the couple making out near the rubbish chute at around 8:30pm on Jan. 26.

She said she had been resting at home when her mother suddenly called her out to the corridor, where she then noticed the couple.

The resident described the couple as being in their 20s and said they appeared to be Chinese, adding that they continued their behaviour for about 10 minutes.

According to a video provided by the resident, a woman wearing a red shirt was seen leaning against a wall and repeatedly wiping her body with tissues handed to her by the man beside her.

The footage, which lasted about three minutes and 20 seconds, also showed the woman pulling her shorts down to her thighs and repeatedly lifting her shirt to wipe her abdomen and groin area with a tissue, Shin Min reported.

The pair did not leave immediately.

Instead, they took their time to straighten their clothes, kissed, smoked, and lingered at the scene for about six minutes before walking away together.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen them before, but this behaviour is really unacceptable. What if children see this?” the resident said.

Secluded corner

When Shin Min reporters visited the area on Jan. 29, they found that the incident took place in a relatively secluded corner beside a rubbish chute.

The area was partially hidden by pillars, making it difficult to spot despite being located near Unity Secondary School, where there is pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

However, the pillars created a blind spot that shielded the corner from view.

Other residents interviewed said they were unaware of the incident but expressed shock upon hearing about it.

One female resident said she had never witnessed such behaviour before.

“They are really quite bold. If they couldn’t control themselves, they should have gone home or to a hotel, not done this in a public place,” she said.

A lawyer interviewed by Shin Min noted that those found engaging in indecent acts in public places can face a jail term of up to three months, a fine, or both.
