WhatsappA video of a cyclist who yelled at a crowd outside Marina Bay Sands (MBS) for supposedly blocking his cycling path in 2025 went viral online recently, sparking conversation about the code of conduct of cycling in Singapore.

The clip, which went viral on social media in mid and late 2025, depicted the incident that occurred next to the Louis Vuitton Island store outside MBS on Jul. 7 after a National Day rehearsal.

A large crowd had gathered to watch the rehearsal and take photos and videos.

The middle-aged cyclist was clad in a white helmet and attempted to break through a large crowd with a foldable bicycle, but faced resistance despite him ostensibly asking them to make way multiple times.

Don't blame me

"If I hit you, don't blame me," he could be heard yelling at those in his way while cycling a short distance before being stopped again.

"You are blocking the way," he then argued with a woman pushing a stroller containing two dogs. "I said please don't block the road, but it doesn't help."

"You're talking nonsense, you just want people to say "please" but you are still not giving way," he added.

Netizens took to the comment section of the video to weigh in on whether the man had the right of way, with many blasting him for not dismounting and pushing his bike through the crowd.

However, others pointed out that since the walkway outside MBS is not a pedestrian-only path, he could technically cycle there.

"The problem is that it is not clear if it’s [a] cyclist [or] pedestrian [path] as both are allowed. It would be much better if they just had clear signs," another wrote.
