Telegram WhatsappDeputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and the five district mayors jointly launched the CDC Voucher Scheme 2026 (January) on Jan. 2, allowing each Singaporean household S$300 worth of CDC vouchers for the year ahead.

1.36 million households

As described in a social media post by the Chairman of the Mayor’s Committee and Mayor for the Southwest District, Low Yen Ling, the scheme gives 1.36 million Singaporean households the ability to claim S$300 in CDC vouchers.

S$150 of these vouchers can be used at 24,000 participating hawkers and heartland merchants.

The remainder can be used at eight participating supermarket chains, which together had around 400 outlets in Singapore.

According to Low, over 600,000 Singaporean households have already claimed their 2026 CDC vouchers.

Strongly supported

Low shared that the CDC Voucher Scheme was strongly supported by Singaporeans, and that the scheme had an average claim rate of 97.7 per cent over the past four years, totalling S$3.995 billion spent through the scheme since 2021.

In 2025, between the January, May, and SG 60 Vouchers, more than S$2.398 billion had been spent.

S$1.22 billion was spent at hawkers and heartland merchants, and S$1.178 billion was spent at supermarkets.

Win-win

DPM Gan spoke at the launch of this year’s iteration of the scheme, which involved using a large smartphone mockup.

In his speech, he lauded the role the vouchers played not only in supporting Singaporean households but also Singapore’s heartland economy.

He gave the example of a butcher at the Punggol Plaza Wet Market, Zaid Meat Store, which “took the extra step” of guiding seniors through the voucher scheme, a “win-win” for both customer and vendor.

“This is what we hope to achieve through our CDC Vouchers scheme: support households, help local heartland businesses, and strengthen community ties.”

Gan also noted the strong 4.8 per cent economic growth experienced by Singapore in 2025, but warned Singaporeans must be “clear-eyed” about the challenges that lie ahead.

To that end, he said that the Singapore government had set up the Economic Strategy Review in order to “secure Singapore’s economic future, to create good jobs, uplift wages, and provide new opportunities for Singaporeans.”
