Fire breaks out at Tampines HDB block, possibly due to items stored in corridor
No injuries were reported.
A fire broke out at Block 733 Tampines Street 71 in the early morning of Jan.2.
Clips of the incident posted on social media showed the blaze along what appears to be the corridor on the fifth floor of the block.
Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were also seen at the scene alongside a fire engine, while residents clustered around the foot of the block and void deck.
Social media users described what sounded like loud shouting and banging coming from the block when the fire broke out.
In response to Mothership's queries, SCDF said they were alerted to the fire at about 2:20am.
The fire involved items along the fifth floor common corridor of the affected block, they said, and was extinguished using a water jet at about 2:35am, according to another social media user.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
