JB to launch free shuttle buses to major tourist spots in early 2026
Johor Bahru authorities have also conducted a simulation of the service to ensure smooth operations.
Johor Bahru is expected to roll out free shuttle bus services to boost tourism in early 2026.
In a Facebook post on Jan. 7, chairman of the Johor State Committee for Public Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Fazli Salleh said that the move is intended to "make it easier for everyone to explore attractions around JB".
Eight main tourism stops
In his post, Fazli said that the shuttle buses will be introduced in conjunction with the state's tourism campaign Visit Johor 2026 through a collaboration between the Public Transport Corporation of Johor (PAJ), Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) and Tourism Johor.
The shuttle bus will stop at eight main locations — Johor Tourist Information Centre (JOTIC), 0km Landmark, Komtar JBCC, Galeria Kotaraya, the Sultan Ibrahim building, Sultan Abu Bakar Heritage Complex, Johor Zoo and Jail Town.
He added that each bus stop also offers easy walking access to nearby attractions.
"Three buses will operate in stages according to demand, each with a capacity of 20 passengers, to ensure a comfortable and smooth journey for all riders," Fazli said.
The service will run daily from 8am to 8pm.
Commuters may refer to further details, which will be provided on PAJ and Tourism Johor's social media pages in due course.
They may also refer to information pillars at each bus stop.
Fazli said: "I am confident that the people want facilities that are practical, comfortable and user-friendly. This shuttle bus is not just a mode of transport — it is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy Johor in a more fun and interesting way. I am happy that we can all enjoy this experience together."
JB authorities conducted shuttle bus simulation ahead of rollout
In an earlier Facebook post on Dec. 30, PAJ said that it has conducted a simulation of the service along with Tourism Johor.
PAJ highlighted that the simulation was an "early preparatory step" to ensure smooth operations before the service is fully rolled out to the public.
"PAJ welcomes the public to take advantage of this free bus service as a primary mobility option to explore attractions along the bus route and in surrounding areas," it wrote.
