Angelina Jolie considering leaving US for Cambodia, where she holds citizenship

American actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie is reportedly making plans for a new, quieter life abroad, including a potential move to Cambodia.

An insider source told People recently that pre-qualified buyers have been viewing Jolie's home in Los Angeles, a mansion she bought in 2016 for US$25 million (S$32 million).

Separately, sources also shared with Page Six that the 50-year-old star and mother of six will split her time between three far-flung places: New York, where she has her fashion boutique, Europe, and Cambodia.

Her second home

In February 2025, Jolie was asked at a film festival where she considers home to be.

"In my heart, Cambodia," she replied, as quoted by People.

She first visited the Southeast Asian country to film the 2001 action flick Tomb Raider.

A year after the film was released, she adopted her first child, Maddox, from an orphanage in Cambodia.

Not long after, she also purchased a property in the country that she still owns today, along with reportedly more than 148,000 acres of land surrounding the house.

Jolie even received Cambodian citizenship from the country's king in 2005, in recognition of her environmental work there.

The actress continued to show a deep connection to Cambodia, directing the 2017 movie adaptation of a Khmer Rouge survivor's memoir, First They Killed My Father.

Plans to move soon

Jolie is looking to relocate as soon as her twins, Knox and Vivienne, turn 18 in July 2026, a source told People.

"She'll be very happy when she's able to leave Los Angeles," the source said, adding that she had "no choice" but to live there permanently due to the custody arrangement with her ex-husband and fellow actor Brad Pitt.

The pair, who share all six children, reached a final divorce settlement at the end of 2024, after an arduous eight-year-long battle over assets and custody.
