An 11-year-old boy in Hong Kong attempted to steer a moving car after his father fainted at the wheel.

The vehicle eventually stopped after colliding with another car and railings.

Father fainted while driving

The incident occurred at about 6:20pm on Jan. 26.

A 47-year-old man was driving west along Shing Sai Road and turning into Sands Street in Kennedy Town at the time, according to South China Morning Post.

After the man fainted, the boy, who was seated in the front passenger seat, grabbed the steering wheel in an attempt to regain control of the car.

Car travelled 100m before crashing

The car continued moving for nearly 100m as the boy tried to steer the vehicle while in the passenger seat, reported The Standard.

The vehicle first collided with another car near the junction with Catchick Street before continuing along Sands Street.

It eventually came to a halt after crashing into roadside railings near Rock Hill Road.

The car's bonnet was damaged, while the seven-seater vehicle it struck suffered damage to its rear.

No injuries reported

Both the boy and the 66-year-old driver of the other vehicle were unhurt, police said.

No pedestrians were injured in the incident.

The unconscious driver was taken to nearby Queen Mary Hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
