1.46kg of heroin & 1.44kg of 'Ice' found in pet food packaging in M'sia car at Woodlands Checkpoint

Around 1,462g of heroin and 1,442g of methamphetamine, commonly known as "Ice", were found in a Malaysia-registered car at Woodlands Checkpoint on Dec. 29, 2025.

The controlled drugs were concealed inside pet food and beverage packaging, said the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) in a Facebook post published on Jan. 13, 2026.

Foiled 2 attempts to smuggle controlled drugs

According to ICA, the discovery on Dec. 29 was not the only suspected drug smuggling case that took place in end-2025.

On Dec. 22, ICA officers at Woodlands Checkpoint performed a search on a Malaysia-registered car and uncovered two black bundles suspected to be controlled drugs in the passenger's bag.

Upon being alerted to the case, Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers conducted further checks.

A total of seven bundles containing about 3,272g of cannabis and 1,709g of "Ice" were subsequently found.

A week later, on Dec. 29, ICA officers at Woodlands Checkpoint conducted checks on another Malaysia-registered car and detected controlled drugs concealed inside pet food packaging.

After being alerted to the case, CNB officers conducted further checks on the car and found a total of 20 bundles of controlled drugs.

2 Malaysian men arrested

According to ICA, these detections were based on information first received by its Integrated Targeting Centre (ITC), which was transmitted to ground officers to conduct targeted searches.

Two Malaysian men, aged 20 and 39, were arrested in connection with the two cases.

The exhibits and suspects were referred to CNB Drug Free SG for further investigation.

The men may face the death penalty if found guilty of violating the Misuse of Drugs Act, which penalises those who import into or export from Singapore more than 250g of "Ice", 500g of cannabis, and 15g of pure heroin.
