2 S'pore auxiliary police officers put out car bonnet fire, prevents 'potential outbreak'
The buddy cop duo we need.
When a routine day suddenly took a dangerous turn, two Senior Staff Sergeants (SSSGT) working for Aetos proved that good teamwork can make all the difference.
Aetos is a security and safety solutions provider that was established in 2004 following the merger of three key Auxiliary Police Forces (APF).
SSSGT (APF) Asogan and SSSGT (APF) Thillagan, who are part of the Alpha division, share over 70 years of combined experience.
Asogan and Thillagan were the first and second Officer-in-Charge, and are responsible for "responding to emergency cases, intrusions, and providing security related assistances".
They were on duty when they noticed heavy smoke billowing from the bonnet of a parked car.
'Instincts took over'
Without hesitation, Thillagan acted on instinct to contain the situation.
"My instincts took over; I immediately grabbed a fire extinguisher to contain the situation."
Asogan secured the premises and promptly alerted the client to the developing incident.
When the situation escalated and the smoke intensified, Asogan grabbed a fire hose.
"We knew additional measures were needed, so I acted quickly to help put out the fire."
The two officers regrouped and worked side by side to fully extinguish the fire, making sure that it did not spread further.
Their quick thinking prevented a 'potential outbreak', and their calm coordination ensured the situation was resolved safely and efficiently.
Aetos' client, ST Engineering, formally recognised the duo at their Safety Day.
