Yishun carrot cake stall draws queues of up to 2 hours & sells out around noon

Are you a die-hard carrot cake fan?

If so, chances are you've already heard about, or tried this popular stall tucked away in a coffee shop in Yishun.

618 Sim Carrot Cake

Located at Block 618 Yishun Ring Road, 618 Sim Carrot Cake currently holds a 4.3-star rating from 673 Google reviews at the time of writing, and is often hailed as one of, if not the best, carrot cakes in Singapore.

Long queues are almost a given, with some customers waiting up to 1.5 hours on Sundays.

Sells out by around 12pm

The stall typically opens at 6:30am and closes at 2pm.

However, one would be wise to go earlier as its carrot cake often sells out by around noon.

A quick glance at the stall’s Facebook page offers little variation: daily posts announcing that the carrot cake is sold out.

Each post bears the message:

"We are all sold out for today! Thank you for your support and come by early next time!"

"One of the best" carrot cakes in Singapore

The stall is run by 48-year-old Stanley Sim and his parents, and only serves white carrot cake.

Sim's mother is the owner of the stall.

Photos accompanying online reviews showed slabs of golden-brown carrot cake with crisp, well-charred edges, while a generous heap of chopped cai poh (preserved radish) sits at the side.

Prices start from S$4.

Many reviews describe the dish as “one of the best” carrot cakes in Singapore, praising its crispy exterior, well-balanced seasoning and generous portions.

While majority of the reviews on Google are positive, however, nearly all lamented the lengthy waiting time.

As one reviewer put it, the queue was so long that his breakfast ended up becoming lunch.

Well if you're planning to head down any time soon, do be prepared to queue.
