Train services on the East-West Line (EWL) between Bedok and Tampines, as well as Tanah Merah and Expo, will resume on Dec. 8, 2025 from the start of passenger service hours.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced this in a Dec. 7 Facebook post, adding that this resumption is one day ahead of schedule.

LTA said that new tracks have been laid to connect the EWL to the ECID and to the new platform at Tanah Merah station.

"We've completed comprehensive testing, including safety and ultrasonic checks on the tracks, power supply, and train signalling systems," the post read.

Ahead of schedule

Several stations along the EWL, between Bedok and Expo, were closed since Nov. 29 to facilitate construction works in preparation for the opening of the new East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID).

LTA Group Director for Rail (Electrical and Mechanical), Chia Choon Poh, shared on Dec. 5 that commuters at Bedok and Kembangan stations along the East-West Line (EWL) may experience slightly longer waiting times of up to 17 minutes during off-peak hours.

This was due to works to connect the line to a new depot entering its testing phase.

Chia also previously highlighted that the scheduled construction works were on track, and the reopening was originally planned for Dec. 9.
