A fundraising campaign has been launched in support of an independent cat boarding home in Singapore, Meow Homestay.

The campaign notice stated that the home's 85 cats may face eviction on Dec. 14, 2025 if its debt is not paid, whether in full or in part.

Debt

Although Mothership understands that Meow Homestay is a boarding home, the fundraising campaign describes it as a "shelter".

The campaign said that the "shelter" faces an "urgent crisis" and has accumulated a debt of S$24,000.

This is due to a backlog of four months' rent as well as Public Utilities Board (PUB) fees.

Dec. 14 deadline

The campaign added that if the amount is not paid, or at least partially paid, by Dec. 14, all 85 cats may be evicted.

It also stated that the owner is still negotiating with the landlord. This means even raising half the amount could buy crucial time for the cats to stay, according to the campaign.

"These cats have nowhere else to go," the campaign read. "Many are elderly, chronically ill, or previously abandoned. Losing this shelter would be devastating for them."

Senior cats, abandoned pets

This comes after the boarding home has been running for the past four years, according to the campaign. The shelter has been caring for senior cats, abandoned pets, and community rescues.

The campaign states that it was originally registered as a private limited cat boarding centre. However, the owner had to close the company because maintaining it became too expensive.

"Since then, she has continued running the place as a shelter with full dedication and transparency," the campaign read.

Maintenance

It added that the boarding home is fully AVS-licensed, where AVS refers to the Animal and Veterinary Service.

This includes a vet visiting every two to three months to check on all the cats, update their vaccinations, and ensure their health records are current. Pest control also visits every six weeks to keep the environment clean and safe.

The campaign read: "Every dollar goes straight into rent, food, medical care, and utilities for the 85 cats."
