A 32-year-old Singaporean man believed to be part of a Cambodia-based organised criminal group (OCG) was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) on Dec. 4

In a news release on Dec. 4, police said that Lee Jian Hao, Jayen, was arrested by the Thai police in Bangkok, Thailand, before being deported and handed over to the SPF.

Alleged member of scam group responsible for 438 cases

Lee is believed to be a member of a scam group based in Phnom Penh, which allegedly impersonates government officials to target victims in Singapore.

He is one of 32 suspects wanted by the SPF in connection with the group.

A video by the SPF showed Lee being escorted by two officers at Changi Airport following his arrest, with his hands and legs bound.

Photographs and details of the remaining 30 suspects remain public as part of ongoing investigations.

Authorities said that the group was responsible for at least 438 reported scam cases, resulting in losses of over S$41 million.

The group was disrupted during a joint operation by the SPF and the Cambodian National Police (CNP) on Sep. 9, 2025.

Prior to Lee's arrest, the SPF had issued prohibition-of-disposal orders and seized assets linked to the criminal group.

To be charged

Lee will be charged in court on Dec. 5 for facilitating the commission of a serious offence.

If found guilty, he may face up to five years' jail, fined up to S$100,000, or both.

SPF has urged those with information on the suspects to contact the police via phone at 1800-255-0000 (or +65 62550000 for overseas callers), or via its website.

All information provided will be kept strictly confidential.
