4 South Koreans allegedly hacked 120,000 home cameras to post sexually exploitative videos online
The four suspects operated independently.
Four South Korean individuals were arrested for allegedly hacking over 120,000 video cameras in homes and businesses.
They then used the footage acquired to create sexually exploitative material for a website.
According to BBC, the accused exploited vulnerabilities of Internet Protocol (IP) cameras to hack in.
According to the Korean police, the four suspects operated independently.
According to The New York Times, one of the suspects made US$12,000 (S$15,542) from selling this footage online. Another made twice that amount.
The locations of hacked cameras included private homes, pilates studios, and even a gynaecologist's clinic.
Two of the suspects allegedly made a total of 1,193 videos.
