A woman in Malaysia took to social media to share about a road rage incident in Johor on Dec. 1, which allegedly involved a man riding a Singapore-registered motorcycle.

The woman, who goes by Ae Yin Chan on Threads, said that the motorcyclist threw a rock at her moving car on a highway while she was riding in the passenger seat.

In photos and videos she uploaded, which have since gone viral, the licence plate of the motorcyclist can be seen to start with an "F", as Singapore-registered motorcycles do.

This likely led Chan to believe that the motorcyclist was Singaporean.

She wrote over one photo: "In a situation where I'm already facing difficulties, this damned Singaporean is driving like mad, going left and right, I've already given a signal and I'm halfway going into the lane, and then they're still speeding up and even honking as if they want to fight."

What happened

The police report Chan shared stated that the incident happened in Johor Bahru at about 8:20am on Dec. 1, on the Pasir Gudang Highway from the Perling Toll Plaza towards Taman Bukit Indah.

The motorcyclist abruptly changed lanes, then followed the car, according to the report.

At an intersection, the motorcyclist allegedly raised his middle finger at them and hit the car's side mirror.

"After that, we chased him down because we wanted to record his plate number," Chan explained on Threads. "Then he went to take a big rock from the tunnel, and he chased after us to try and throw the rock into the passenger seat, but he couldn't because we sped ahead of him."

"Then there was a traffic light, and we stopped because it was red, and he took the chance to throw the rock from behind."

The rock smashed through the car's rear window, leaving a large hole.

Photos of the aftermath show that the car's front windshield was also cracked.

"I went to the police station to make a report as I was worried about my safety that day," Chan's statement read in the police report.

Tried to talk it out

After the rock was thrown at their car, Chan and the driver chased after the motorcyclist for a while. Videos she uploaded showed them tailing the motorcyclist as he weaved through traffic.

"We tried to get him to pull over and stop at the side so we could talk things through peacefully, but he kept playing with us and laughing, braking, and swerving left and right," she wrote in one video.

They continued to follow the motorcycle to get more photos and videos as evidence.

Many who commented under Chan's posts expressed shock and concern, saying it could have been dangerous if a person or a baby was sitting at the back seat.

Some suggested that they should have rammed the motorcyclist with their car, but Chan said doing so would make them a criminal too.

"Just because he's not rational, we shouldn't be irrational like him too," she said. "But since I remained clear-headed, hopefully it's possible to get some sort of justice."

Under investigation

According to The Star, the police report was filed by the male driver of the car, a 30-year-old Malaysian.

The Iskandar Puteri Police have begun looking for the motorcyclist.

The case is being investigated as an offence of reckless and dangerous driving, as well as mischief causing loss or damage of at least RM25 (about S$8).

Late on Dec. 1, Chan updated that she has given a statement to the criminal investigation department.

She called for others to help her find the motorcyclist and report to the police any information about him.

Additionally, she shared that she had tried to report the incident to the Singapore police as well, but that she needed a SingPass to lodge a police report online.
