A man travelling from Singapore to Bali on a Scoot flight on Dec. 5 was shocked to find cash and credit cards missing from his carry-on luggage after disembarking.

He reportedly lost S$500 in cash, with his cards used for fraudulent transactions amounting to thousands of dollars.

Bag ransacked after falling asleep: Passenger

The man told Shin Min Daily News (Shin Min) that he departed Singapore for Bali on Scoot flight TR288 on Dec. 5.

"I dozed off on the plane, and after I awoke and disembarked, I found that my bag had been ransacked, and my money and credit cards had been stolen," he said.

However, the alleged thieves did not take his passport, documents or computer, the man said.

He told Shin Min that he is currently in contact with his bank to dispute transactions made on the stolen cards, which are apparently in the thousands.

Scoot's reply

In response to Mothership's queries, Scoot said that it regrets that it is unable to share statistics and information regarding theft cases on board.

"What we can share is that Scoot advises our customers to safeguard their valuables at all times. Our cabin crew are trained to be vigilant and to alert authorities of any suspicious behaviour on board our flights," said the airline.

The airline added that should there be a suspected theft case, Scoot will assist the affected customer, and will cooperate fully with the authorities in their investigations.
