S'pore furniture store Scanteak selling Pokémon cards for S$14/pack, hopes to inspire family moments for Christmas
Spreading a lil' festive cheer for Marill Christmas.
Singapore furniture store Scanteak is decking its halls with none other than Pokémon cards.
They are now selling Mega Evolution-Phantasmal Flames booster packs at three of their outlets this Christmas season, according to their Facebook reel posted on Dec. 5, 2025.
A spokesperson told Mothership that it was in the spirit of spreading a little festive cheer, and that this will be just for the Christmas period.
However, they may consider making it a permanent addition if customers’ response is good, they added.
Why Pokémon cards?
But why Pokémon cards at a furniture store?
The spokesperson said that their vision has always been to "inspire family moments".
Their Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jamie Lim was first introduced to the Pokémon card craze when her 10-year-old son started buying and selling cards online.
She was amazed by the demand and by how engaged children and parents were.
Three generations in her family — from her mother to her children to herself — have all bonded over playing Pokémon together.
"It was a meaningful reminder that shared activities bring families closer, and that is what inspired us to bring Pokemon cards into our stores," they said.
Chance opportunity
The company said a "chance opportunity to distribute Pokémon cards" came along, and Lim felt "it was worth trying" because it has brought her own family so much joy.
She shared with the official distributor their vision of "expanding beyond furniture to inspire family moments", and the distributor aligned with that idea, they said.
Now, they are an authorised retailer for Pokémon cards.
"It is rare to find a character universe that three generations can enjoy together, and that spirit of togetherness fits perfectly with our ethos," they said.
While this is their first time selling collectible products, they said they are open to exploring any items or experiences that can inspire family moments.
Growing interest from the public
Scanteak said they were "quite surprised" by the interest and queries they have received so far.
"While we are not yet stocked out, we have been seeing a growing interest. We just started putting it in store on socials last week," they said.
Those interested can find the Pokémon cards at three of their stores: Suntec City, Westgate, and the flagship store at 1 Genting Lane.
Each packet is going for S$14, and each person is limited to a maximum of five packets.
