The bodies of a father and daughter duo who were found dead in their Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat in Sengkang on Oct. 6 have been identified by relatives.

They were cremated on Dec. 5, and will be flown back to their hometown of Liaoning, China to be laid to rest.

Cremation

According to Shin Min Daily News, relatives of the deceased daughter, 47-year-old Xu Na, flew into Singapore from China on Dec. 2 and 3.

A memorial service and last rites were held for both Xu and her father, Xu Baolu, at Woodlands Memorial Hall on Dec. 5.

Xu Na's former classmates and teachers were reportedly in attendance to pay their respects.

The ashes of the deceased will be collected and transported back to their hometown of Liaoning, China on Dec. 6.

This was after friends who knew Xu Na previously got together to trace the family of the father and daughter in China.

Pair found dead in Sengkang flat

The younger and elder Xu were found dead in their flat on the eighth floor of Block 324D Sengkang East Way on Oct. 6, after a resident in a unit directly below noticed a foul smell and liquid leaking from her ceiling.

At the time, the pair had reportedly not been seen for about a month.

The father's body was found in a bedroom, where it was already severely decomposed.

The younger Xu's body was discovered near the main door in the living room.

Police later issued an appeal for her next-of-kin, who were said to have been found with the aid of former university classmates and the Chinese embassy by Oct. 16.

Xu Na had reportedly attended the National University of Singapore (NUS) and earned a doctorate from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom (UK).

The family hail from northeast China.

They were in Singapore since Xu Na was in secondary school.
