Dad & daughter found dead in Sengkang flat: Family of woman, 47, found

The family of the 47-year-old woman found dead with her father at a Sengkang flat on Oct. 6 has been found, according to the Singapore police.

On Oct. 7, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) released an appeal for the next-of-kin of Xu Na, the woman found dead in the flat.

On Oct. 16, SPF issued a statement saying that Xu Na's relatives had been found.

This comes after Xu's former university classmates pooled their resources and contacted the Chinese embassy in a bid to reach her next of kin.

Relatives contacted after her friends' efforts: Zaobao

As a result of her friends' efforts, Xu's registered residential address was found to be in Huanggu District, in Shenyang, China.

Friends of Xu also reportedly helped to make arrangements for her funeral.

With the assistance of the Chinese embassy, ​​Xu Na's relatives have been contacted, Zaobao reported.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, arrangements are being made for them to travel to Singapore and collect the body.

Background

Xu Na and her father had been found dead in their home on the eighth floor of Block 324D Sengkang East Way at around 1pm on Oct. 6.

The pair had reportedly not been seen for at least a month.

It was also believed that Xu had a mental health condition and was largely dependent on her father.

Xu obtained a master's degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a doctorate from the University of Cambridge in the UK.

Xu had studied and worked in many countries, Zaobao reported.

Her father is a Singaporean citizen.

Her mother, surnamed Wang (transliteration), is a Singapore permanent resident.

Wang, however, died of lymphoma in 2016 at the age of 66.
