Brazil police want to exhume body of 'Human Barbie' amid suspicion of murder

The body of a Brazilian influencer, nicknamed the "Human Barbie", is waiting to be exhumed after prosecutors and her family claimed that she may have been murdered.

31-year-old Bárbara Jankavski was found dead on Nov. 2, at the home of Sao Paulo lawyer and public defender Renato Campos Pinto de Vitto, reported The Star.

According to a police report obtained by CNN Brasil, De Vitto testified that he had allegedly hired her for "sexual services" and they had engaged in the consumption of illicit substances.

The influencer was known as Boneca Desumana online and had followings of over 57,100 followers on Instagram and 343,800 followers on TikTok.

Court approval for the exhumation has yet to be granted, reported The Star.

'Human barbie'

Jankavski's content revolved around her 27 cosmetic surgeries, makeup transformations and fashion, reported The Star.

On Nov. 2, at around 1am, Jankavski arrived at de Vitto's home, where he claimed they ingested cocaine and she later fell asleep beside him while watching television.

When de Vitto saw that Jankavski was deathly still, he called an ambulance and performed CPR on her for nearly 10 minutes, stated The Star.

Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene and authorities ordered necropsy and toxicology tests.

The Brazilian police had originally ruled the case as a sudden death by cardiac arrest, citing a cocaine overdose, reported The Mirror.

However, her family believe that she was strangled to death, as Jankavski's body had injuries and marks on her neck consistent with mechanical asphyxiation.

The request for exhumation includes X-rays of her neck to prove that she was asphyxiated and a DNA analysis of the dirt under her fingernails for signs of a potential struggle, stated The Star.

A new court filing has requested for a homicide team to conduct additional investigations.
