The Singapore season of Beetlejuice The Musical was abruptly cancelled less than a month before the production's premiere.

In a Dec. 22 email to ticket holders, the organisers said they had "made the difficult decision not to proceed with the planned Singapore season of Beetlejuice The Musical".

No reason was provided.

Ticket holders will be refunded in full within 40 business days, the email said.

An update was also posted on the Sistic Singapore website, while the Ticketek page was taken down entirely.

The production was scheduled for a month-long run at the Esplanade, from Jan. 15 to Feb. 15, 2026.

"Why???"

Marketing efforts were live as recently as four days ago on the Beetlejuice Asia-Pacific social media account.

Sistic Singapore and Ticketek, the two official ticketing platforms for the musical, also posted video advertisements in recent weeks.

Most recently, on Dec. 10, they advertised an S$88 per ticket limited-time promotion.

The production stars, Karis Oka and Andy Karl, even flew into Singapore for promotional videos.

They promoted the Singapore season as recently as last month.

Ironically, a marketing video posted on Dec. 5 was captioned: "Tickets on sale now, Singapore, don't ghost us!"

In response to Mothership's queries, the show's organisers said that shows are only cancelled "as a last resort after thorough consideration".

"We remain committed to Singapore and look forward to bringing more world-class productions to audiences here in the coming years," a spokesperson said.
