A 53-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another man with a knife in Tampines on Dec. 19 evening.

The two men allegedly got into an argument at U-Taste coffee shop, located near Tampines MRT station, Shin Min Daily News reported.

As they argued, one of them allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the other man, wounding him in the lower back and forearm.

The victim was subsequently seen walking to Tampines MRT station, trailing blood from his back and legs.

In response to Mothership's queries, the police said they received several calls requesting for assistance around Tampines MRT station at about 5:55pm that day.

The police arrested Mohamed Sufian Mohamed Sabri within six hours.

He was charged in court on Dec. 20 with voluntarily causing hurt to the victim with a knife.

Argument started suddenly

The two men had been sitting at separate tables at the outdoor seating area of the coffee shop, an employee told Shin Min.

They appeared to not know each other, and their argument apparently started out of nowhere.

According to the employee, about five minutes after they began arguing, another man suddenly appeared and handed a knife used to cut fruit to one of the two men.

Then, Sufian allegedly stabbed the victim, who was also holding a small knife, the employee added.

Another man who worked near the coffee shop also told Shin Min that he saw the victim hold a small knife in his hand as he walked past his shop towards the MRT station.

The victim was seen with his hand over his waist area, which was apparently where he got stabbed.

A scary sight

After the incident, the victim was seen walking to Tampines MRT station, trailing blood for nearly 50m,Shin Min reported.

Eyewitnesses were shocked by the scene.

A woman said that when the victim saw her calling for an ambulance, he asked her not to do so

When police officers arrived at the scene, they found an injured man and attended to his injuries together with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

He was subsequently conveyed conscious to the hospital, the police said.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Remission order

The incident occurred while Sufian was serving a remission order, effective from Oct. 4, 2025, to Jan. 13, 2026, according to court documents seen by Mothership.

In Singapore, prisoners might be issued a conditional remission order, granting them an early release for good conduct and behaviour during their sentence.

One of the basic conditions of this order is to not commit any offence during the remission period.

For this incident on Dec. 19, Sufian was accused of breaching this condition, and would thus be liable to serve an enhanced sentence of imprisonment.

His case is scheduled to be heard next at court on Dec. 26.
