The video was shared on the Roads.sg Facebook page and YouTube channel on Nov. 13, inviting discussion on the peculiar sighting.

As the car in the video travelled along the empty expressway, a figure could be seen appearing in the distance along the road shoulder.

The contours of a person emerged as the car approached it.

The woman appeared to pay no mind as the car and a motorcycle zipped past her.

What's going on?

The comments section was abuzz with speculations on the ghastly occurrence.

Many let their imaginations run wild and jumped to conclusions of the supernatural, pointing out that they could not observe any shadows.

One commenter claimed that they had apparently seen the lady in the past pushing an empty wheelchair along Bukit Panjang, Woodlands Road and Mandai Road.

The commenter said that the lady would follow the same route back and forth in the mornings, and this was the first time they had seen her at night.

A handful surmised that the lady might not be of sound mind and said that the driver should have either stopped to offer help or reported the incident to the police.

Penalties

Under the Road Traffic Act, pedestrians are not allowed on expressways.

The offence carries a fine of up to S$1,000, up to three months' jail, or both.

Repeat offenders could be fined up to S$2,000, face up to six months' in prison, or both.
