Thai woman, 25, allegedly stabs herself to death after dispute with boyfriend over revealing clothes

A Thai woman allegedly stabbed herself after arguing with her boyfriend over her revealing clothes.

According to Thai media, she was found dead with a single chest stab wound.

Thaiger reported that police were alerted to the incident at 6:40am on Nov. 10 in Pattaya.

Death circumstances

Police officers found the woman in a five-storey condominium.

According to Amarin TV, the woman, New, was lying face up, clad only in underwear.

New, 25, was unconscious in a pool of blood, according to Khaosod Online.

She was discovered with one chest stab wound in the bathroom of a ground-floor room.

In addition, a knife covered in blood was found in the basin.

Rescuers attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but were unable to save her.

Revealing clothes

Amarin TV reported that New's boyfriend, Champ, was waiting for officers in a state of shock.

Prior to her death, New had been in a relationship with 35-year-old Champ for six to seven months.

Thaiger reported that the couple, who worked at the same entertainment venue in North Pattaya, had argued about New's revealing clothing.

Around midnight on Nov. 10, New sent Champ a message and asked him to come over for a kiss.

However, Champ refused as he was at work.

Locked door

According to Thaiger, Champ believes this may have caused New to feel neglected.

Champ added that New had a history of depression, but did not disclose whether she was receiving treatment or taking medication.

After the police reviewed surveillance footage from the condominium, they found that New returned to her room alone at 4:50am after the entertainment venue had closed.

Champ arrived at 5:10am but was unable to enter because the door was locked from the inside.

Autopsy

He called New more than 20 times while waiting outside the room, but could not get her to open the door.

Champ then called a locksmith, who arrived at 6:07am.

Rescue workers reached the scene around 20 minutes later.

Following the incident, police stated that it was not yet clear whether the death was suicide or murder.

New's body will be sent to the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Institute for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
