Woman, 83, dies after car allegedly hit her in Teck Whye, man, 29, arrested, vapes found in car
An 83-year-old woman was also conveyed conscious to the hospital.
An 83-year-old woman died after being knocked down by a car, which mounted a kerb near Block 25 Teck Whye Lane, on Nov. 8.
Another 83-year-old woman was conveyed conscious to the hospital.
E-vaporisers were found in the car of the 29-year-old male driver, who was arrested.
Accident
In a video shared with Stomp, a grey sedan could be seen partially mounted on a road verge.
A crowd could be seen gathering at the pedestrian pavement, near the car's front bumper.
Some in the crowd appeared to be crouched on the ground over a person while providing shade with an umbrella.
One resident said an elderly woman was conscious and was able to communicate with those providing aid, while another elderly person was unconscious.
When paramedics arrived, they performed CPR and continued to do so even as they brought the injured person onto the ambulance.
Vape found in 29-year-old driver's car
Responding to queries from Mothership, a Singapore Police Force spokesperson said the police were alerted to an accident involving a car and two pedestrians along Teck Whye Lane at about 2:50pm on Nov. 8.
"An 83-year-old female pedestrian was conveyed conscious to the hospital while another 83-year-old female pedestrian was conveyed unconscious to the hospital, where she subsequently passed away," the police said.
A 29-year-old male car driver was arrested for driving without due care and attention under the influence of intoxicating substances causing death.
Police also found e-vaporisers in his car, and the case has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority.
Police investigations are ongoing.
